Idiot Alert! I have an expectation that, should I need to pull the trigger, my firearm will function correctly. That it will deliver a fatal shot so I don't have to chase whatever I'm hunting across acres of ground to retrieve it.

I hate that argument about the technology in firearms didn't exist when the 2nd amendment was adopted. Although the 2nd amendment isn't about the types of firearms or hunting the same technology for firearms existed at the in 1787 it just wasn't widespread because it was in the engineering stages ie the puckle gun,the Belton musket and the pepperbox pistol to name a few.
