This article says: "While intervening in the Gallagher case, Trump has not pardoned him or vacated his court-martial conviction. He has acted to prevent punishment of Gallagher."
And found this: "Special Warfare Operator Chief Edward Gallagher, who earlier this fall was acquitted of a string of alleged war crimes, had his rank restored to Chief Petty Officer by the president."
"And he reversed the demotion of Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher, a Navy SEAL who was acquitted of murder charges but convicted of a lesser offense in a high-profile war crimes case over the summer."
"Under Navy regulations, a SEAL’s Trident can be taken if a commander loses “faith and confidence in the service member’s ability to exercise sound judgment, reliability and personal conduct.” The Navy has removed 154 Tridents since 2011."
So Gallagher hasn't been pardoned - he reversed the demotion and that was it. So on the charge he was convicted they could discharge him from the SEALS.
He needs to stay out of this and let the military handle business - all he does with this is undermine the military.

So who applauds this the most... SEALS... who cares what us Army thinks. Stay out of SEALS business.

Gallagher was the sole person in the photo convicted of posing with a corpse. There were others in the photo as well. How have they fared?

When you look at the terminology they used... "posing by the body of the young fighter" made me wonder whose side they were actually on. The problem is that many top echelon military become politically correct drones once they hit the Pentagon in order to protect their future political or board of director seats after they retire.

As I read the comments I wonder what happened to the term Commander in Chief.

Bad mouthing a CEO would get you fired super sonic in the civilian world. According to UCMJ making disparaging comments about an officer in command is punishable under USMJ. According to the SCOTUS even military retirees can be subject to UCMJ. Something to think about before bad mouthing the CiC

If that’s the analogy you’d like to make, A CEO of a public corporation repeatedly bad mouthing his employees would ensure the supersonic removal of said CEO in the civilian world.

Maybe POTUS should put him on The White House staff oversight team to review SEAL 2 Star promotions.
