Coast Guard telethon kicks off fundraising season

I know this is Duffleblog but I hope we don't have to fundraise for the CG this year

This is funny because it hits so close to home. I feel for the USCG...their budget is tiny compared to their mission. When I was in school at DAU in DC (2003-2004), we had to research the federal budget and write a paper on what we thought were major disconnects between budget allocation and national impact. That year, the USCG budget was $7B, and the US gave $15B to fight one disease (AIDS) in one part of the world (Africa).
