I watched an interview concerning this and the attorney made a compelling argument for the "light" sentence. The driver was not under the influence (no drugs or alcohol in system), no evidence of distracted driving (no cell phone/text use during time of event), and no evidence of reckless driving (speeding). It seems that this was just a horrible accident. The man had a COPD-related coughing fit and lost control of the car. I'm sure I'd feel differently if it were my family members, but in criminal court, there was nothing there. I'm sure a civil suit will produce a more just outcome.

Yep, a mother who is now unemployable after 8 surgeries and losing her husband and 4 daughters. It makes sense that all this man gets is 1 year of probation.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I am aware brother Greg. It is just upsetting to me and my emotions get to me because I just care too much sometimes.
