I've been following the Kurds, mainly the YPJ, for many years and like Beau I will admit I'm biased in my opinion but they are good people especially in this region.
I think many would be surprised to know that a number of international volunteers are fighting with and as well supporting them from all over the world. The women wearing the green head scarf is from Germany.
As well I can't help to contrast these incredible brave women with the feminist movement in America.
Not to go into all the details but I really feel our foreign policy in regards to Turkey is a big misstep as well.
If you get the chance to see it check out the film "Berxwedan Jiyane"

SPC David S.
MAJ Ken Landgren - My fear is that they will realign with anyone who supports their independence - like Russia or Iran. I could see Russian doing this considering the Ajil, Allas and Qayyarah oil fields in Northern Iraq and then as well in Syria with the Suwayda, Shadada and possibly the Omar oil fields. Russia's sphere of influence in the north middle east would be problematic especial if they started projecting force via military installations. I hope I'm wrong but I give it ten years and we will see a conflict driven by Kurdish independence.
