I've been watching this circus from its infancy ,nothing of a positive nature coming from the Dems only venom , I see nothing of support for what President Trump has achieved , He has had quite a load in cleaning up areas that have cost this Country billions ,no more hand outs with out other Country's assistance also. He has had quite a mess to clean up and continues to do so.
Our Flag Fly's Proud because of this President.

Basically, they are saying that they will exert Executive Privilege to the maximum extent unless the House holds a vote and allows cross-examination and subpoena powers to the minority. Basically, the White House went all-in on a pair of tens.
Will the Dems fold?
Maybe.
As I have said numerous times in recent weeks, I do not believe the House has the votes, and I am certain the Senate doesn't.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Don't care about Jefferson Manuals. House rules are voted on at the beginning of every session. Surely this particular rule would have come up in discussion.
But you are side-stepping my point, in true lawyerly fashion.
So that Constitution thingy... about how impeachment works.

Capt Gregory Prickett or precedent.
But that doesn't matter. Not when we have witches to hunt.

Capt Gregory Prickett - In the case of Clinton, you had an Independent Counsel that referred 4 counts of perjury and 7 counts of Obstruction of Justice to the House. Clinton had ample opportunity to defend against (or not commit) several of those charges in the course of that investigation. Ultimately 2 of 4 articles of impeachment got a majority of House votes and went to the Senate.
In contrast, Trump had a Special Counsel investigate for 2 years and referred exactly zero charges against Trump. Unlike Clinton, the Trump Administration cooperated, if not fully, at a very high level with the investigation. It resulted in a couple of dismally failed votes on articles of Impeachment. Now we have this new situation, and rather than have an independent investigation, the House has elected to do so themselves. This time, negotiating access and having the other side able to rebut is not something they have time for. Whatever one might think of that, this results in a kangaroo court.

Then again, as we have discussed many times, this isn't really going to go anywhere. All they are trying to do is get more mud to sling for 2020, as they know damned well any trial would result in acquittal and a House vote if unsuccessful would be terribly embarrassing for the Dems and if successful, politically perilous for dozens of members.

Meanwhile, Senators write a letter to Ukraine suggesting much more strongly than Trump did in his phone call that US aid to Ukraine would be in peril of they were not helpful to the Mueller investigation. HMMM...
Or somehow Biden's son gets a cushy job in Ukraine shortly after getting thrown out of the Navy for cocaine use for which his sole qualification was access to daddy. Or Kerry's son goes into business with Hunter and gets $1.5 billion to manage for their firm after Joe and Hunter visit China on Air Force Two. Or how Pelosi's son currently has a job for Burisma.
Nope. Nothing to see there.

1SG (Join to see) - A lawyer is not about justice. Rather, they are master prestidigitation artists. The full use of the language to convince you what you think you know is not really what you know. That what happened in the past, has no influence or connection to the present. That intent is not connected to action. They will razzle you, dazzle you and do their best to convince you that when Person A did something, and no charges were pressed *at that moment* it has no bearing on what person B is doing to investigate it 3 or 4 years later. And, instead, it proves person B is interfering in Person A's bid for the presidency.

And what happens when you become a grand master prestidigitator? You become a politician. When that happens the truth, the facts, none of what you and I would be judged on, well that does not matter anymore.

Sorry as a guy with unusually large feet, its with a heavy heart that I pass the Gold Belt to the Good Democrats. Would you come out of the woods to claim it. I can't seem to locate you.
.
In an aside:
This meme should simply say "Good FEDERAL Politicians".
My local elected officials are generally and genuine good guys
regardless of which party they belong - of course the county's
not shy about grabbing them by the scruff of the neck and
shaking them until common sense re-takes hold of them.
