I don't think that ad helped them in the short term, but it's a little wild to think that a company lost $8 billion solely due to an ad. The hair grooming industry has been on the decline for a while now and Gillette doesn't have the same market share it used to.

SSG Carlos Madden - I would agree that there are many things affecting the market. I don't think its anything for a crazy panic. But it is a trend that is affecting businesses. Of course when a business like Gillette shoots their own foot, well that's funny.
Fewer successful marriages, fewer births, fewer people that grow up to buy Cars, Homes and Consumer goods. These show trends and culture shifts.
