When the President of the country you are the ambassador to disinvites you from events and publically calls you out, it is over. You are, by default, persona non grata.
This guy must be an idiot of epic proportion to think putting this sort of stuff in writing about your countries strongest/best ally. He is likely a member of the English Elite who looks down his nose (and raised pinky) as he sips his tea at Trump. I am sure Darroch would have loved Chamberlain though.
