As good as the film was, which it was, there were numerous inaccuracies as well as composites of individual personalities depicted in it...e.g., Col. Shaw was actually married at the time, plus, the actual names of the other participants are in many instances knkwn...I can appreciate the cinematography, and the effort expended at creating such a period piece, I just often wish such productions would keep to literal truth, without embellishment, or taking any cinematographic license...as I'd said, I can still obviously appreciate the sweep of the story, nonetheless, certainly, despite all that, of course....

Was Denzel Washington a no-name actor at this point of his acting career? I read that the African American soldiers on the Union side refused pay until there was parity of pay.
