I've been burning a huge burn pile. The fire has been so hot that the last significant rain didn't completely extinguish it, and I've kept it going for about a week. My wife and I are constantly feeding it with limbs that fall around the perimeter of our horse pastures and our house. (Lots of trees). The burn pile seems to be perpetual!!!
