With modern ammunition, both will get the job done. Still, the ballistics of the modern 45ACP are much better than a 9MM, which leaves the only real advantage capacity. I grew up with big bore revolvers, so the recoil in either caliber is not an issue with me. My non athletic wife has shot both the Taurus version of a Beretta 92 and my 45 ACP and did not have any problems with either, but slightly preferred the 45 since the recoil is more of a push than the snap of the 9mm.
As an old revolver shooter, if you need more than six, you should have brought your rifle.

My small framed better half prefers .45 acp. Like you said, more of a push compared to 9mm snap. I often carry a Smith .41 mag. Yes, I grew up around revolvers!

Jack since my brain is a veritable warehouse of worthless misinformation my thoughts are they are both very good rounds. I have fired truck loads of both and will say my new favorite is the SIG .357. Just thinking about it I have to smile but in a scary kind of way. Love it.

I really enjoy my Ruger 9 mm but to be honest I don't notice that much of a difference between a 9 mm, the 40 and a 45 mm!
