Five Eyes look for 'counter-narrative' to prevent terror recruitment
It would be a major change for the Five Eyes whose members — Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Australia and New Zealand — have typically been secretive about the more traditional espionage activities they engage in to collect information about terrorists, organized crime figures, and other major threats.
But in an exclusive interview with QMI Agency on the eve of the second-ever ministerial-level Five Eyes summit, Canadian Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney said the group believes it's important to develop some public communications strategies to prevent radical Islamists from promoting terrorism within their borders.
"Our next big challenge is to articulate a counter-narrative," Blaney said in a telephone interview from London, England.
