I can recall weather folks comparing any big snowfall to the blizzard of 88 when I was a kid.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen We had two bad blizzards in Ohio in 1977 and 1978. Although the '78 blizzard was considered worse by weathermen, I always felt the '77 was worse in my area. We had drifts that covered our second floor bathroom window.

SGT (Join to see) Got weathered out by one of those blizzards, think it was 78. We had a night mission to Statesboro GA, knew storm was coming but thought we could beat it back. No such luck, runway closed about 30 min before we hit the outer marker so we diverted to our sister base in NY. Bad choice, storm hit there a few hours after we landed and closed their runway. In all it was 3 days before we got home from our little night training mission.
