Prince Albert: the death that rocked the monarchy

For all the time I've spent studying history, I knew little more about Prince Albert than his name was shared by a cheap brand of pipe tobacco. Of late, watching the series "Victoria" on PBS, I have been inspired to learn more about him. It seems that he did speak out publicly in support of the abolition of slavery and here we find him intersecting with American history, possibly preventing a war between Britain and America at a time when America was vulnerable
