Janitor is the answer to the question "What job does an unemployed FAA Air Traffic Controller have outside of FAA?"
I remember meeting one of the AC controllers that was terminated by Reagan back in 1982 (Reagan fired them in August of 1981). He was a janitor at a local community college. He was very shocked that he was fired and having been a controller most of his career had very few marketable skills or experience. He was not happy with his former union and they way they lead them down the path to destruction.

I too was a PATCO controller at Seattle center. I had a problem getting a job after our strike because everyone thought we would be re hired and didn't want to pay for training only to see me leave and go back. Well that never happened. I finally got a job as a bouncer at a local bar in Auburn, Wa. We got royally screwed by PATCO and the Reagan admin. I've still got the letter from Reagan saying how he knew we were underpaid for the responsibility and our equipment, computers, were way out of date. After he got elected he sent another letter that said he was mis-informed and would not support us. PATCO was the only union stupid enough to support that scum. He ruined so many lives and families by not living up to his promises. I bought a truck and started moving people around the country and made more money than I did as a controller.
