That sort of nonsensical debate has dragged on forever, and always will...I was a clinical doctoral-level allied health student at sevl VA hospitals, and also did a full year of unpaid, so-called "lunch-money" residency at another one, as well as been an in-patient at yet another, as well as visited, and chatted with attendings, at countless more...I'm not saying I'm God's gift of omniscient, omnipotent, all-seeing, all-knowing VA wisdom, all I'm saying is, I've seen a good deal, from both sides of the clinical fence, we shut my license off sevl yrs ago as I'm now total perm disabled, however, one doesn't shut one's mind off, certainly...that being said, privatizing VA is a virtual pipedream, I don't care how many cost-benefit studies are done, or modeled, or how, I couldn't care less, ain't gonna fly, never gonna happen, total la-la land wishful thinking to assume it would, I assure all of you...VA Choice is as far as it's gonna go, and understand, I've used VA Choice, I know others have had heartburn with it, I didn't, maybe I was lucky, maybe I knew how to use it more effectively, I don't know, all I do know is, it worked, at least to get an opn non-clasutrophobic MRI of my right shoulder for a rotator-cuff tear, I just had to get orthopedics at the VA hospital by my wife and myself to sign off on letting me have it done, twice, I think, in fact...combining VA/CHAMPVA/VA Choice with TRICARE, as well as all the USPHS clinical facilities, yeah, that makes sense, I've long thought that, for a whole host of reasons, though, of course, no one is ever gonna listen to me, however, total, full privatization? Like I said, and as you emphasized, dream on, honest...I'd be most eager for your thoughts, whenever time permits, I'll admit it was an interesting point, certainly, I just figured I'd offer my worm's-eye view of the whole thing, if you will, for whatever value it might have, many thanks....

Thank you for your service and for your valuable comments. I have had limited, mixed experience with my local VA and satellites. I have never used VA choice, but I believe because of the limitations of the VA system in non-urban areas, VA Choice at least fills a void. One of the things the founder of Concerned Vets, Pete Hegseth, was looking for when he conceived the organization was allowing veterans to use their ID card at all government and municipal health care facilities, sort of like medicare. It's such a simple and logical idea. Since all veterans are also taxpayers, it makes even more sense. Veteran's status is one thing, but taxpayer status should help kick in this viable idea. Any veteran with an ID card should be able to be seen at any government or municipal health care facility at no additional cost to them. Just my two big, fat cents! Hooah!

Thanks for answering...actually, that is a quite interesting notion about making a VA card a universal ID for all public and/or governmental clinical facilities, one I hadn't even considered...yeah, I could quite definitely see that, certainly...that is a really neat idea, most definitely....

I have no answers on how to improve your VA! When my wife quit teaching school she was allowed to keep her health insurance so we both are privately insured and I don’t use the VA !
