It would be disaster in my opinion - I like our country (even when we're goin through the current turmoil) which will pass, if we follow the history of our country. I was ashamed to be an American when our youth were taking drugs, loving freely, and protesting against our men and women who served in Vietnam. Therer weere other times like today as well, but in the long run I would not want to lose our country at all. I've travels to many countries and there is no place like where we live today even with the (Good, the Bad, and the Ugly). That's my two cents CPT Jack Durish

COL Mikel J. Burroughs Would you have been ashamed is the youth had just been loving freely and taking drugs? (And not protesting the Armed Forces).
Seems like we have lost that sense of freedom and love that we had back then. At least in some circles.

Yes, we need our country. There is still no place like the United States of America.

Agree absolutely with one small qualification. There still is no place like the USA for people like us. Freedom loving people. People willing to take responsibility for themselves. For others? Not so much. Sadly, there are many now here (native born as well) who haven't been taught to take responsibility for themselves and are fearful of the responsibility that comes with freedom.

CPT Jack Durish - I'm all for freedom. I love freedom. I'd like more freedom and I think the US can offer that. Right now, it irks me when people talk about America as the "land of the free." The United States is 55th in "freedom" across the world. Seems crazy, I know, and people may disagree with some of the factors, but even in the BEST surveys of individual freedom, the United States barely ever cracks the top 10.
What we ARE #1 in? Freedom to have guns. That, at least, is unquestionable. But, I think we're focused so intently on that one issue, that we've sacrificed a lot of other freedoms that other people, in other nations, take for granted.
I want us to be the MOST free. We're not there. Not even close - so, until that point, maybe we should tone down the "LAND OF THE FREE!" - At least until we earn it.
