Is Hazard Pay for Leprosy Still Available? Asking for a Friend! Bad Humor I Know. I Just Remember Molokai Historically as the Island of Lepers in the US. Also Having Served in Oahu, I'm aware of the "Molokai Express" Undertowe on the East Side of the Island is Pretty Bad and Supposedly if it Gets You, Your Body will Wash Up in Molokai.

There used to be protests outside Makua Valley range on Oahu from time to time. Not very many people, though.

I'm pretty sure they now have a cure for Leprosy. Watched a documentary on Molokai just a few weeks ago, and I believe there is only one guy left there from the old days when it was a colony.

If the Navy conducts the training properly, the locals will never see anyone and won’t know they are there. Except for a few boats driving around, there should be no impact on the local environment.
