I am from Mississippi so let me respond...
CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT...
1.) The reference to her attending a segregational school is true. However, while she was in school I am sure as many kids know, they don't have a choice where they went to school...that is the parents choice...it was the same for my wife...her local school stunk so they sent her to a private school for her education...SOOOO to make big deal out of it and call it a segregationalist school without looking at the record of the school and its graduates as to where they are in society due to the private education they received (Public Schools in MS just suck) is wrong and taken out of context.
2.) The comments about a public hanging were meant for capital punishment to deter crime. Hell, I have said many times that if we brought back public hangings versus the needle, I beieve it would deter crime. Her comments had nothing to do with lynchings of black people in our history but that is how Mike Espy and his team have spun it and folks have taken it like a tidal wave.
3.) This election can't be won by Mike Espy on merits, therefore he is making it personal. He has a criminal past and was indicted on numerous (30 counts) of reeiving gifts etc while he was a rep and the Agriculture Sec. He was acquitted even after Tyson Foods admitted in court to him getting the money...He has also taken money from foreign warlords and siad he stopped taking themoney when he found out who he was...didn't give it back or to charity but kept it. I was in his district when he was first elected as a congressman and he didn't do squat. He resigned as the Ag Sec amid controversy. Again context.
He cannot go face to face with Cindy Hyde Smith on the issues so once again they are going after a smear campaign and making it personal versus about the position. They are also making a big deal about him being the first black man elected as senator from Miss. Guess what...I DON'T CARE WHAT COLOR YOU ARE OR WHERE YOU COME FROM...WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO FOR MY STATE? But people want to be part of history versus doing whats best. I just don't trust him as he has been in the Washington circles too long and we need fresh eyes.
