Trump tours California's wildfire damage

Those that live in the North Dallas area can remember way back in the 1980's and 1990's when after a dry period or drought we would have these conflagurations similar to California but they would be limited to a Nieghborhood or subdivision in which rows of houses burned to the ground after just one caught fire OR a local grass fire would spread to a subdivision and result in rows of houses burning down. The biggest thing North Texas did to stop them is to ban the use of wood shingles on roofs with a brief 10-12 year sunset period for most people to get rid of them. They also put in a controlled burn program for areas of open grassland where fires could occur or else they would mandate the cutting of the grass after a specific time or height reached. Finally we put in a permanent drought or no drought water use system to limit the waste of water in times of both water plenty and water shortage. So it just amazes me when I see the aftermath of these subdivisions burned to the ground in California and hear the Firefighters lament that the houses STILL HAD WOOD SHINGLE ROOFS, or that they let the brush around the homes grow untouched with no brush control or removal program? Not sure if California has a water conservation program in place year round but at this point nobody in a fire prone region should still have a wooden shingle roof.....that is just inviting the fire to your home and is really stupid.
