Ray Gilmore, a competitive skier and native of Mt Washington Valley, graduated from University of Vermont/ROTC and was commissioned in the US Army on August 3, 2001.
After 39 days in a peacetime army, his career lead him to quickly and successfully complete EOBC, Ranger School and the Sapper Leader Course and to complete multiple tours downrange over the ensuing years.
In 2007, an injury while serving in Afghanistan, forced Ray’s retirement at the rank of Captain. He subsequently returned to the North Conway NH area where he resides with his wife Cassie and 5 children… as well as 2 dogs, 30 plus chickens...etc.
Independently, Ray has organized outdoor events for veterans, sharing his love of skiing and showing that there is life after injury. He believes strongly in the use of skiing and other outdoor activities for adaptive reconditioning and to provide support for his fellow servicemen and first responders.
