Bottomline, foreign born minors have to be adoped by the age of 16 while native born have till the age of 17. Why is there even a difference? This is dumb but I wish the entire family good fortune in S. Korea. Our immigration laws apparently confuse officials responsible for advising citizens and immigrants of their rights and legal consequences.

I think it's pretty shitty this happened because he got bad advice from his lawyer who told him he had until she was 17.
It is ridiculous to have that one year difference. I would bet no one Congress or any lawyers even know at this point.

Good question. For someone the politics feels it necessary to treat immigrant minor differently from American minors.
