Anybody know how the Brit school system works? It said that 16 was the "school leaving age". Does that mean they graduate from high school at 16 and then go to college or work? If so then 16 might make sense. But if they are begore graduation i dont know

Well keep in mind that Britain does not consider itself the world's policeman. So the likelihood of Joe Blogs (English equivalent of Joe Sixpack) ending up in somewherestan getting shot at is quite remote.

We take recruits at 17 the Brits just do so a year earlier and then send the to combat at the same minimum age as we do at 18. The Aussies do this also. And Armies have explicitly targeted the working class and the poor since Sargon was a recruit.
