I might just be blind, but I think in the US now most people don't give a damn who you're sleeping with. There are LGBTQ members of the GOP, doing a fine job in elected positions. The GOP just doesn't make the issue of it that the Left does.
I will admit there is a vocal homophobic minority against alternative(who's to judge if it's alternative) lifestyles. Most of whom are in the Winter years of their lives. So in 15 to 20 years it won't be an issue at all. I really feel that if the Left quit making an issue of it there wouldn't be one.
A Gay man or Lesbian is just as willing to fight for the lives and freedoms of their loved ones as any Hetero. Love is blind, like Justice is supposed to be.
A Rainbow wave? I'd say there's already a lot of color on Capitol Hill. Younger candidates just aren't afraid to make it known.
