While I was stationed at Lowry AFB, CO in 1971 I visited a friend of Mine that was a Cadet Captain at the Air Force Academy,CO. The campus and its setting with Pike's Peak overlooking is pretty impressive. My friend had been a Cadet Lt. Colonel in Civil Air Patrol with Me prior to entering the USAFA. His Father was a Full Colonel in the US Air Force.

Picture (1) is a parade on the Flight line of Lowry AFB, CO of USAFA Cadets, Picture(2) is New Cadets arriving at the entrance gate to the USAFA gate to Lowry AFB, CO, Picture (3) Cadets of the USAF Academy in front of some of the WWII Vintage Barracks being used and Picture (4) Cadets of the USAFA while at Lowry AFB, CO.

When i was stationed at Lowry AFB, CO it was then Lowry Technical Training Center and those WWII Barracks were still being used to house Airman both Student and permanent party. I live a bit better though in Bachelor NCO Quarters which were newer and air conditioned and there We even had maid service to clean our rooms and even make the bed. We did pay weekly for that service and We even had vending machines with beer within the building. At that point I worked in the Security Police, Law Enforcement and was early on My 2nd enlistment in the USAF.

I used to travel to Colorado Springs frequently, SGT (Join to see), and I visited the campus a number of times. It's beautiful.
