"Choose your relationships wisely. It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company."
Our relationships are critical to our lives and that is why it is important to choose who you connect with. People in good relationships live longer, healthier lives. the reverse is also true. What can you do to improve a relationship and make it better for both of you or find a way to bring someone new into your life?

So very true. We show others how to treat us based on what we put up with; what we confront and what we accept. If we respect ourselves, and draw that line of respect in the sand, others will respect us, too.

We teach people how to treat us. If they don't meet our standards for love and respect, it is time to move on.

Good morning, Mikel! I trust you and all of RallyPoint are all well on this fine day! In the military and the civilian areas in my life, I have been fortunate to have had great relationships with my leaders throughout my work life. Relationships should always be based on respect and mutual admiration Here is another quote on relationships.

“Authority is not a quality one person 'has,' in the sense that he has property or physical qualities. Authority refers to an interpersonal relation in which one person looks upon another as somebody superior to him.”
― Erich Fromm

MSgt John McGowan - Those kind of people cannot see the the superiority in others. I can see the superiority in others. Superiority in others does not mean better than others. It is the recognition of superior qualities in others. If I am the superior land navigator in my platoon, most people would recognize that skill and follow me. I can see superior qualities in men like you or COL Mikel J. Burroughs in just having your rank alone. Your posts alone show a quality of wisdom!

In relationships, 'we' receive what 'we' give ! If 'we' give respect, 'we' receive respect & a Great relationship is borne! BUT, if 'we' give disrespect, 'we' receive disrespect & a bad relationship is borne! In my life I chose to give respect in order to have another friendly face in the crowd, until the other person proves 'he' does Not want it. Then it is prayer time! HOORAH !!!
