Like France, Italy outnumbered its enemy in armor and war tech, but was poorly lead. Initial set backs (anything from getting lost to running out of socks) would set the Italian staff backwards by many steps. The open-minded British would then wheel around their formations and inflict just enough damage to get them to chase. Whereupon they would lead the Italians onto pre-sited artillery "fire bases." The end result would still be an Italian victory, but the death toll was staggering and soon, Italy couldn't afford the "victories." Unable to rule the air or sea, the Italians were unable to supply themselves as well.
