A nation of 30 million people getting into a trade conflict with the largest economy in the world and nation of over 300 million is foolishness and only intended to try, very lamely, to send a message.
You can see that some of our allies are not interested in removing the tariffs that protect their industries at the same time they complain that we put them in place to protect some of ours. They do not believe in free trade and they have not for a long time.

True but tariffs really hurt your own people as it in reality is just a sales tax. Canada will be hurt more by these tariffs then by the US. Preferably we can get to actual free trade.

MAJ (Join to see) - I think fair trade is the goal. They need to agree to remove tariffs from US products coming into their countries. There is no reason for a developed, western economy to tariff US products unless they are simply protecting their own industry. That appears to be what Canada has been doing for years. Trump has called BS on it. They don't like it but turnabout is fair play.
