I don’t see the correlation between the two cases. The internment of American Citizens (Japanese Americans) was clearly wrong. However, banning folks who have no connection to the US who reside in countries that have proven to be a threat to the US is another story. There is no constitutional right for non-citizens to immigate to this country.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - So you actually believe that ANY person has a right to live in any country of their choosing? Regardless of the laws of that country? I am well traveled and I can tell you that the rest of the world disagrees with you. The United States has some of the most relaxed immigration laws in the world. When I visited Australia a few years ago I had to notify them of my exact hotel I was staying in, provide them with my outbound flight information, and instructed that if I deviated one bit from my departure plans, they would hunt me down. They take their immigration laws seriously!
There are various reasons why all countries restrict immigration, the main reason is resources. The US does not have the resources to sustain the entire world. But if you want unrestricted immigration, then I suggest that they live in your house.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - While I disagree with some of opinions, I appreciate your well thought out response.
When I talked "resources," I meant government services. In California, illegal immigrants are a huge drain on the system. Health care alone (ie- Emergency Rooms) for these folks cost a fortune. Thirty years ago, there were Level 1 trauma centers at nearly every hospital in Los Angeles County. Every town had a trauma center. Now there only 14 Trauma Centers to serve 13 million people. I don't know what the cost is now, but 20 years ago, LA County spent 500 million dollars a year just in medical costs for illegal immigrants. Trauma Centers closed because there wasn't the money to keep them open. In 2017, LA County spent 1.3 billion dollars in welfare benefits for immigrants. There are always limited resources and unlimited immigration puts a strain on the system.

If the court is going to allow Trump to make false claims, and back him up as though they have merit, we are in for a bumpy ride.

The false claim was in why the order was issued.....he was on record saying it was a Muslim ban, and for this order it was a different justification for the action. And same goes for the zero tolerance order.....justification keeps changing.

The order came out of a unconstitutional, religiously bigoted bigoted political attempt at violating the first amendment by Trump. It was just repeatedly trimmed down until they could get it though with the help of a hijacked SC appointment.

SSgt Gary Andrews - Statements by a then private citizen - SCOTUS ruled that can't be used.
And a reminder that the countries had been put on the list by prior Congress and last Administration - I didn't hear any gnashing of teeth then. And two of the countries are not even muslim.

SGT Kevin Berman - As a candidate for office, Trump stated exactly what he would try to do as POTUS. When he became POTUS, he tried to do exactly that. When it didn't fly, Rudy told him he could get it through by watering it down and changing the justification, which is exactly what he did. You can choose to believe his heart is pure on this if you want to......as for me, I think he's full of crap. IMHO, there is very little that comes out of his mouth that can be believed.

Very interesting story, caught this on Rachel Maddow last night as well. Interestingly they had a follow-on guest from ACLU who mentioned they had filed the original cases on Japaneese Internment and had stayed with the case thru today. That's their plan for separated children as well, stay with issue and file cases until it's resolved, no matter how many years it takes.
