CPT (Join to see) A co-worker lived near LAX. One of his grown sons and a buddy would play ‘chicken’ on the runways there. One night, Ray’s son sat too close to the white line in the center! I attended his funeral.

CSM Charles Hayden That’s an unfortunate and preventable loss of life. I recall a few years ago, I went to Airport Beach on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten. I was among the many hanging onto the fence to get a blast from the jet engines as planes took off. Only after I left did I read about the many people who had lost their lives over the years doing the same thing by either getting blown into a car/rocks/the water or being stuck by debris.

In this gentleman’s case, I think it was likely a case of a mental illness.
