Thanks for sharing my friend SSG(P) (Join to see). Gary Sinise is an honorable man and he was awarded the annual Sylvanus Thayer Award at my Alma Mater - USMA, West Point.
That being said as a disabled veteran I prefer my friend retired LTG Michael Linnington

Prior to joining WWP, Michael was the first permanent Director of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), following his retirement as a Lieutenant General from the U.S. Army. He served as the Military Deputy to the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) from 2013 to 2015 and as Commanding General, Military District of Washington and Commander, Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region from 2011 to 2013.

Michael also held general officer positions of responsibility as Deputy Commanding General, Fort Benning, Georgia; Commandant of Cadets, United States Military Academy, West Point, New York; and in Kabul, Afghanistan.

His military career included duties in key command and staff positions worldwide. He served on the Army Staff, the Joint Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Staff. He served as the Military Deputy to the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) and as the Commanding General of the Military District of Washington/Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region. He also held General Officer positions of responsibility as Deputy Commanding General at Fort Benning, Ga.; Commandant of Cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.; and Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Policy for the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command (IJC) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

His combat experience includes command of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).

Michael graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1980. He is married with two children.

Guys, you can't just appoint popular figures, I realize jes a great guy, I get that, but, aside from all hat personality, he's never been in, at least that I've read, plus, he's not clinical, and that has to be the main function of a Secretary, the Secretary has got to be clinical, it's just that simple, I trained in those places before my disability, I know how they function, I've been through all the disability garbage, all the educational benefit garbage...it needs a physician member of Congress who's been a vet, I sent one in a few days ago, I looked up which Congres s me!ners are physicians, and vets, specifically because I know precisely what type is needed...a competent VA secretary isn't like the one appointed to run NASA, he's Congress, but also ex Navy fighter pilot, though not explicitly scientific...try to understand, the VA is a vast operation, multifaceted, with serious research in the level of the NIH, with a hispitalmsustem, and all the disability ruling and benefit garbage, only someone politically experienced, who's also clinical, experienced also at electronic med record (EMR) systems can do it, the ideal would be an MD/DO, PhD, JD, member of Congress who's also a vet, that's who's needed guys, nominating him would be pure ambassadorial goodwill staff, it just wouldn't fly, trust me, been there, done that (BTDT), the guy I trained under at VA in residency before my disability is a vet, he could probably do it, however, he doesn't know how Congress functions, plus, he's gotta be a Republican...I understand the reasoning, however, trust me, it'd be a nonstarter.,.a pure vet won't work, that:s been tried, a pure !medical won't work, that was just tried, the only way it:s gonna work is someone with exposure to Congress, medicine, IT, law, so fat as possible, and who's also a vet, I've given it a lot of thought, and I'm telling you, I've seen it from allmsides, I've got a real feel!for how that whole place works, and I'm telling you, straight up, that's the onlymway it'd work...I actually thought of Dr. Richard Carmoma, the former Surgeon Genl, he's medicine, a Vietnam!War hero, and ran HHS, he could definitely do it, someone on that scale would be needed, with Congress exposure mixed in, honest, those are my honest thoughts, OK?

Pray Dr. Richard Carmoma or a Veteran with such experience would even consider the position. Then with help from his friends prepare for a storm. We recall what took place with the last officer and doctor that was up for the position. Accusations from no named persons making unproven statements. Then the media goes into vulture feeding mode. True Veterans need someone in that position now. Not many Veterans want that mess during this time in life.
There will be accusations, name calling and every slight error in life exposed unless he is a bottom feeding liberal that the swamp professional politicians need a job for.
