BTW a Frenchman made the fist kill with a forward firing though the prop machine gun, with wedges on the prop to deflect bullets no less.
The interrupter was invented by Fokker, a Dutch designer who first offered his designs to Britain a but was turned down. Turning him down may have been one of the biggest mistake in military aviation history.
