I stopped watching football a couple of years ago after being a huge fan. I can't in good conscience support a sport that knows this is going n, and has a solution they do not want to implement because of a contract with Reebok.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff, I believe that the strength and conditioning programs for our youth of today for football players have completely surpassed the technological advances used (and available) to produce protective equipment. In fact, many don't know that football helmets are not designed to prevent concussions (I don't think they can be so designed), but are designed to prevent skull fractures. When a player gets hit in the head, the old brain is going to roll around inside the skull, and I don't think any helmet design will stop that.
The NCAA is more serious about rule changes to protect the players than is the NFL, but (and I generalize here) it seems like every game I watch nowadays, some young man is hauled off on a stretcher with a possible head injury.
I played high school football, and I'm glad I did. I still enjoy the game of football. However, I'm fairly certain that I would not want my son to play today, were he of school age.
I honestly don't know the answer as to the better prevention of head injuries in organized tackle football (collegiate and professional), but I don't think the issue is being addressed quickly enough.
