Guess what if you use a credit card, check, or one of those grocery "discount" cards, everybody in the financial industry and marketing/advertising industry already knows and tracks by household what toilet paper, peanut butter, coffee and etc. you use. They also track what stores you use what days of the week and hours you do your shopping, by household. If your credit card or checks are on the same account but named singly by you or your spouse they track the information by name. If you use the discount cards, or give name, phone number, etc. etc. on cash purchases (Like Ace Hardware value points) the retailers tack and store your cash purchases by name. Particular buying patterns are and bank deposit patterns are all reported to the IRS. We haven't had privacy in America since bar code scanning at the check out stand.

This is nothing new. When you shop especially with discounts you are tracked even cash transactions ( military discount). You think that information is not stored anywhere, guess again. You name may not be tracked but demographics are.
