Sgt Kelli Mays I have zero ability. One of my former NCOs was amazing at it and I always hoped he would give it a try.

Few are born with a natural voice for performing. Voice over actors take years cultivating one.

Sgt Kelli Mays - Voice over is not just about speaking. It's about emoting dramatically with your voice. It's a special talent that he may have developed through his "day job". One of my best friends was one of America's most successful voice over actors until his death. He began as a DJ on Armed Forces Radio in China following WWII. There he listened to radio drama, focusing on William Conrad playing Marshall Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke (yes there was a radio version before it appeared on TV). He studied his style and delivery until he mastered his own voice. After serving, he rose to become a host on NBC Monitor Network back in the days when radio was king. With the rise in TV, he became a voice over actor in films and TV commercials. At times, I heard him in back to back national ads, and warned him that he was becoming overused. I used him myself when I worked in the ad and PR biz, and also accompanied him on gigs to watch him at work with others. No, it wasn't just his voice that made him effective. It was his delivery. His ability to ad drama and interest to the most mundane script for detergent or hamburgers.

My voice is fine for public speaking, however I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.
