The left is no longer hiding their desire to repeal the 2nd amendment and strip Americans of their right to keep and bear arms. What they fail to realize is that the 2A is not needed for the right to exist. Anyone with a brain and a 2nd grade education can read the debates surrounding the ratification of the amendment and see for themselves that the 2A is merely an acknowledgement of an existing right, not the creation of a new one. It formally restricts the government from infringing on that right. That right still exists even without it. Every human being possesses this right even if they aren't American.

This argument displays and even higher level of ignorance and idiocy because it shows a complete lack of understanding about our founding document - the Constitution. Article I, Section 8, Subsection 16 states very clearly that Congress is responsible for "organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia." If the Constitution already acknowledges that the militia is to be armed, there is no need for the 2A to give the government permission to do what it already said it can - arm the militia. It's a duplicitous and fallacious argument to suggest that the 2A only applies to the militia when it specifically convey two very clear rights to the "people": the right to form a militia and the right to keep and bear arms. The people have the right to form a militia and the government has the duty to organize, train, and arm one when needed.

This is why militias are formed throughout the country to varying degrees and not all of them are managed by the government. If only the government had the right to form a militia, every militia organization in the country would be deemed a terrorist or gang organization and immediately shut down. That's not the case because the people have the right to not only self defense, but community and society defense. We have a right to form associations in common defense of ourselves and our communities, neighbors, and fellow Americans against threats both "foreign and domestic." Sound familiar? The left wants to rewrite history and hopes that this incessant chant in the media and in politics about what the 2A "really" means will take hold. Tell a lie enough and eventually people will believe it is the mantra of the left. Judging by this letter to the editor, the skulls full of mush on the left have swallowed the bait.
