Interesting that nothing was said about the officer presenting the oath. He should be the one held accountable. All he had to do was stipulate that this is a noble and traditional ceremony and would be conducted with proper respect for this time honored tradition.

CWO4 Gene A. Everyone involved in the video was held accountable. The COL giving the oath was demoted to LTC and retired. The MSgt was removed from AGR duties with other actions possible, and the airman who recorded was also disciplined, but remains on duty.

1Lt Newman. Even though a bit severe in the COLs case, action to correct noted.

Why is there this need to do stupid idiotic things, record them and post them to social media? Life is full of choices and consequences, I hope they are ready to accept the consequences. Stupidity must be dealt with and cannot just be swept under the rug.

I served for a brief time with Gen Rice in Pakistan as his Chief of Safety. He’s a good man and a fine officer in whom I would give great trust.

Should there be an ass chewing? Yes.
Should people lose their jobs? No, if there is nothing else negative in their performance.
Should this just go away? Yes.

Any form of disrespect to the oath should be taking seriously ....let it "just go away" is not an option.
