The USPS is a black hole for funding, while the report that they get "NO TAX" moneys, they receive subsidies of almost 18 Billion Dollars from Congress which gets its money from tax payers. Anyone that thinks the USPS operates in the black by selling stamps and losing your mail is smoking some very good stuff. If the post office was a private company and had to pay like the rest of the business world they would be gone long ago. "The Post Office is exempt from state and local property and real estate taxes, along with other burdens like tolls, vehicle registration fees, and parking tickets. These exemptions save the USPS $2.18 billion per year." The post office our countries version of a bad magic show, with assorted weak tricks, poor execution of those tricks and some truly delusional folks that think its self sustaining by using tricky financing schemes. The post office has been on steroid infused life support for decades and will never be profitable or self sustaining, it is a dying service that refuses to die as long as someone else foots the bill.
