if your state is like mine, there are pockets of green that are staying quiet about it.

Well, I have to say this. I attended High School in Wisconsin and security in the late 1970's and early 1980's was not as lax as it was at Parkland High School in Florida. We had two campuses out in the country (where there seem to be a lot more mental cases roaming about than in the big cities). Anyhow each campus had a School Resource Officer and it was a big husky Phy Ed Teacher from each campus that rotated through the role. All the school entrances were locked from the outside except for the one facing the front parking lot which the resouce officer guarded, he had a walkie talkie to the School's Dean so he could call for assistance or warn. The school was set back a ways from the street so you could not just quickly wander off a street sidewalk and be at a entrance door. Doors into each classroom were solid wood with no windows to the hall. If the door was closed you could not tell if there was a class in session unless you looked under the door for a light. The Central Student Commons inside had at least 6-8 exit avenues to outdoors. School was one floor. School theatre was designed to be a safe area in case of Tornado and it was easily accessible with steel doors , concrete roof and no windows. This school was built before Parkland and it was not even a City school it was a suburban school in a rural area of Wisconsin. So someone dropped the ball in Florida if you ask me BIG TIME. That school was a security nightmare and even with Golf Carts they could not adequately protect the students. So I would give Wisconsin more of a break with the map above.
