WWII soldier to posthumously receive Medal of Honor

1LT Garlin Murl Conner will posthumously be awarded the Medal of Honor for valor during WWII. 1LT Conner ran away from a field hospital and toward the battle to rejoin his troops. He singlehandedly held off 6 advancing German Panzers and 600 infantry. 1LT Conner called in artillery on his position killing 50 German soldiers and injuring another 100. In addition to the Medal of Honor, 1LT Conner earned 4 Silver Stars, 4 Bronze Stars, 7 Purple Hearts, and the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during WWII.
