I worked with one guy yrs ago before my disability who'd gone there, my wife and I also have a good friend who went there, I speak often with other grads from there as well. My next younger brother was USMMA Kings Point, I commissioned him when he finished, I also quite frequently kick myself for not having applied there as I'd very seriously thought to do so while in high school. When I'd been in Army ROTC, the unit I was in, which no longer exists, trained fairly frequently at West Point, which I do recall quite vividly, ver good catch, my brother often related inter-school rivalries between both places, as they're boh quite near one another, SUNY !Maritime NAD USMMA Kings Point, good catch....

Almost everyone I know (once they find out about KP) regret not trying to go to KP. Our congressman called it the "hidden gem." He was right. I'm glad my son is a lot smarter than I was!

I follow...the same is obviously true of SUNY Maritime...I gather from what you'd mentioned that your son evidently went KP...it was actually SUNY Maritime I'd gone to once with my grandparents, that was when I'd thought to apply, to this day, I honestly don't know why I didn't...laziness mixed with stupidity in equal measure, I suppose...I'd gotten into another school on a first try, and just let applying there go, clearly one of the dumber things I never did, obviously, in retrospect...

The first of a new class of training ships that will be purchasable by all the Maritime Academies. I suspect that King's Point will get hers in due course. The more Maritime Academies that sign up the lower the overall price per unit should be. So, letting SUNY Maritime be the first olive out of the bottle may not be that bad of an idea. An interesting development regardless, SN Greg Wright .

Actually, I'd heard that SUNY Maritime had needed a new ship for quite some time, I'd actually seen their present one some time back, and I'd been told it was pretty close to needing to be replaced, that was yrs ago, of course, so I can only expect the circumstances clearly warranted them getting it before KP, though I obviously understand your point, of course....
