Been holding back on this one to see where all the chips fall, but here's my take.
Every major disruption of civilization is instigated by the radical, actualized by the misled, and rectified by the rational. In many ways, the only difference between a "radical" and the rational, regardless of which "side" they lean to...is how far they're willing to go with it.
This nut-job may have "sided" with a lot of things millions of Americans identify with, but that isn't why he resorted to heinous crimes. He did it because he was twisted, depraved and what's worse...obsessed with his own delusions of importance. Unfortunately, the little night-crawler blew himself up before we could look inside his mind and see what rotten filth oozed out.
Now, people are jumping on the fact he was white, that he was "Christian", that he was a "home schooler", and that he belonged to a "survivalist" group. I realize not "everyone" is guilty of this, and that some people have genuine concerns, but just like I know not every misguided or frustrated college kid with a black "hoodie" and a picket sign is a committed "terrorist"...not everyone who disagrees with the prevailing social "evolution" is one either.
For those (hopefully few) who do make such connections, whether "Right" or "Left"...consider this; What's the end-state? Do any of these people really believe that "one glorious day" everyone on the "Left" will spontaneously and unanimously say, "Gee guys, we were wrong; We're awful sorry for questioning Capitalism and the Constitution, trampling on tradition, and rejecting responsibility...will you lead us all in a prayer of forgiveness on the campus commons"...or that everyone on the "Right" will similarly wake up one day and say, "Ah, I see what you mean now-we're such greedy, violent, intolerant scum! Let's redistribute the wealth, repeal the 2nd Amendment and re-write the 1st, ban open expressions of religious faith and share a moment of unity down at the cultural center"?
No...it won't happen like that.
If normal, sane, sensible people (like many I know from both "sides") keep looking for a "root cause" to stamp out, evil people like this kid will keep supplying evidence for it. How many acts of terror does it take before otherwise patient people sanction everything from revolution to civil war?
To my mind, regardless of our political or social "leanings", we should practice measured skepticism when anyone suggests our enemies are so easily identified.

It's super hard to see how I can contribute after SMSgt Thomas's stellar contribution to this thread, but I'll try.
Who says he's right wing?
Who says he's right wing?

I guess I missed something. I don't see any SMSgt Thomas on here. Unfortunately going to the "survivalist" camp and being anti-gay marriage throws him in the "right wing" pile. You may disagree, as it obviously appears that you do. That's how this left-wing, right-wing thing works though. We do paint each side with a broad brush.

SSG Warren Swan - Just get tired of his point-sniping. For whatever reason, it got to me last night.

He's right wing. So what? It doesn't mean all republicans are going to start shipping bombs. Republicans love pointing out when liberals do something disgusting, liberals enjoy pointing it out when republicans do something terrible as well. Its dumb and serves no point, but until more people start holding those in their OWN party accountable for their actions, blaming the other side that is NOT committing acts of terror (just as I don't blame all muslims for all radical attacks, I don't blame all D/R affiliated people for crimes committed by their equally extreme citizens) this is going to be a problem that goes on for quite some time.
