Thanks for the share, it just might serve him well to pay a visit to Taiwan! China would not be happy about it.

My own visit to Taiwan during 1972 in an exchange program, with the Chinese Air Force, Picture (1) I'm shown here (in the blazer uniform) with General Chen I Fan, Commander in Chief of the Chinese Air Force (Equal to our Chief of Staff, USAF) at CAF Headquarters in Taipia I had met with the General l for 1.5 Hours. I was escorting two American Cadets on the International Air Cadet Exchange. IACE. Picture 2, Myself and the two Cadets with Colonel Jude BK Pao, Chief of Protocol for the CAF, (He later became a Major General) and the last picture on hte Flight line at CCK Air Base, of the CAF, I'm in the center, the two Cadets to My left and two Member of the CAF to the right in front of one of their aircraft. We had also made a visit to the Chinese Air Force Academy in Taiwan and were hosted by Lt. Gen Teh, CAF, Supt of the Academy The program with IACE was with Civil Air Patrol, the official Auxiliary of the USAF where I was an Officer there (1st Lt then) the same time I was an NCO in the USAF. At that point there were people from the USAF stationed in Taiwan which ceased when the US closed their Embassy to appease the mainland China. Taiwan was and is a democracy that elects its Government officials. Taiwan never did anything to anger the US and was a very Westernized Society. Picture (4) was taken years later Of former Colonel Jude PK Pao as a Major General which is the rank He retired from the Chinese Air Force (Taiwan) with.
I think it would be good to have the President Visit Taiwan. and cement a relationship again with them after the US turned their back on them in favor of Communist China. Taiwan does fly US made aircraft such as the F16 and others but they also now manufacture some of their own aircraft. Taiwan has purchased other military hardware from the US and has sent members of their Air Force here to deal with the USAF on some systems. I remember, when i was working a Federal Contract, a group of Officers from Taiwan from Major up to Major General coming to Hanscom AFB, MA a number of years back for that purpose and being hosted by the USAF.
You may notice also that both General Fan and General Pao have pilot wings from CAF on their left side but the Wings on the right are from the USAF as both took pilot training in the United States.

Sheez! You went in ‘72 and I went there in the 60s, you would think that would suffice.
