This kind of stuff really galls me over it's two-faced attitude.
You want to play games like this with gun control and rights? OK, I'll play your silly game.
If a law gets passed that bars anybody under 21 from buying long guns, then the age to join the military ought to be raised to 21. And I'll HAPPILY campaign for EXACTLY that.
If that's not "workable" or "good for the military", then tough. The government can reap what they sow.

I spoke with my local guy that runs the firearms section in the local AAFES. He said the whole thing was a misunderstanding by some. The idea had been kicked around at AAFES HQ, but decided against. However, some folks saw the memo of the discussion and thought the idea had been implemented. They were quickly set right.
