Maryland Senate passes bill requiring presidential candidates to release their tax returns

MAJ Bryan Zeski - God try. However the Constitution establishes the qualifications for President. I know that there are people who want to rewrite or reinterpret the Constitution, and you may be among them, but I'm sworn to preserve, protect and defend it, and it was written in very plain language. No legalese. Just plain language.

"No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States."

It's a real stretch to infer that any part of that requires that the President have an income of any amount or account for it

CPT Jack Durish - People don't have to have an income to have tax returns. No part of the Constitution prevents a state from having additional requirements. The Constitution has no provisions mandating that only those requirements are allowed. The Constitution continually has been shown to be a document intended to restrict the Federal government and empower the States and the people.

MAJ Bryan Zeski - "No part of the Constitution prevents a state from having additional requirements." The states don't have the authority to arbitrarily add qualifications without amending the Constitution.

SSgt Christopher Brose - It's not a qualification though - I guess that's the point. It's just a filing requirement. Nothing in the Constitution says that candidates must pay a fee to file - and yet, they still have to every State. A qualification would be something you are or have (age and nationality for example) - a requirement is something you do - pay a fee or release your taxes.

PO1 Don Gulizia - This could be true. But she could pass it if she believes her own bs enough, right? Most likely she would have either been given preferential treatment of her findings might have been changed/faked in order for her to pass. But thankfully it doesn't matter. lol
