Not posting this to pick on the AF! Posting it because it's one of the only videos I've ever seen that has the in-cockpit video of the pilot ejecting half a second before burning in. You can actually see the ground approaching. Pretty eye-opening. The pilot survived.

A pretty violent event. Lot's of explosive components make it all happen very quickly. Thankfully punching out is a rare event.

Yeah. Even rarer to get it on video. IIRC, he had his altimeter set incorrectly for the airfield's elevation, and so didn't go high enough to do the maneuver he was doing....and this was the result.
