Thanks SGT (Join to see) for honoring PFC Kenneth Tibbs who was the first black Marine to die in combat on 15 Jun 1944. The 3d Ammunition Company received the Presidential Unit Citation for their role on Saipan, and the 6th Ammunition Company was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation on Iwo Jima.
"Eulogy for a Fallen Hero: Pfc Kenneth J. Tibbs, who is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, died in World War II. Hear Greta Hamilton deliver a eulogy at his gravesite as part of ABMC’s World War II in the Pacific Understanding Sacrifice program."
