Will Smith seems to like taking on the Western movies, and Jamie Foxx was excellent in Django. But as for this part, I think some new blood could do some justice.

Wesley Snipes is back. Maybe this could restore his career?

Someone who at least has a vague resemblance to Bass Reeves. I can see Wesley Snipes in that role. Bass doesn't have that same steely look, in his portrait, that Snipes is known for, but no doubt he was good at it. I can see Lou Gossett Jr. too, but I suppose a younger actor would be more suitable for the role. It could be a career-maker movie.
