Are you familiar with MajGen Smedley Butler, his role with the Bonus Army and fighting for veteran benefits?
He also authored the book "War Is a Racket" and testified before the the McCormack-Dickstein Committee (House's Special Committee on Un-American Activities) about the "The Wall Street Putsch"/"Business Plot" to overthrow Roosevelt. Strangely, transcripts of the various testimony before the Congressional investigative committee and much of the evidence they collected had disappeared from the government archives by the late 1960s.
MajGen Butler was the most decorated Marine in U.S. history at the time of his death. Major General was also the highest rank authorized in the USMC until 1942 and is still the highest permanent military rank during peacetime. (3-star and 4-star ranks are temporary ranks linked to specific duty positions.)

When The Bankers Plotted To Overthrow FDR
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was subject to the kind of vitriol we often see directed at Barack Obama today. But some of FDR's opponents didn't stop at talk: a new book details a starting plot to overthrow FDR and replace him with a fascist military government.
