I don't think we ever have another "conventional" war where there are uniformed combatants on both sides. Too much of today's conflicts are more of the guerrilla type engagements where you never know who the enemy is. There is no defined rear area anymore.

Yes, if Iran is the protagonist, it will be more of the same. N. Korea does not have the integrated advocates in the south to make it another Vietnam; Russia has not demonstrated guerrilla type tactics in their incursions and China is a wild card.

Only if we have the "Big One" where both sides have, and are committing all combat arms. The final NVA incursions were of the classical nature when they were facing only the ARVN instead of our overwhelming force.

Think the battlefield is changed for ever! With the heavy hitter America being challenged by smaller places that will hit and run.
